This month I think I’ve had a little bit of subscription box fatigue. It didn’t help that I was half asleep last Saturday when my Glossybox turned up. This month’s Birchbox was amazing, but when both that and my Glossybox turned up, I treated them the exact same way; took a quick look at the card with the product list, and then pushed them to one side. Remembering I needed to unbox, photograph the products and get a blog post written up, I grabbed my Glossybox today and was surprised to find the packaging still perfectly in place! That’s not like me at all!
So, diligently unwrapping it, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been excited for this months Glossybox! Not only does it have 2 full sized treats, but it actually has 6 products, rather than the usual 5. There’s a great mix of products, with 3 skincare products, 2 makeup products and 1 hair product. So read on to see what I got, and what I think of the products!
Beauty Pro Black Diamond Peel Off Mask with Activated Charcoal
This was advertised on the little card given in last months box and I have to say it doesn’t excite me at all. Are charcoal peel off masks still a thing? I have one I use pretty regularly which doesn’t really do what it promises. I’ll definitely use this, but I think compared to the other products in the box, this maybe shouldn’t be the featured product? This is cruelty free though, so it has that going for it!
111 Skin Space Defence Bright Eye Lift Gel
I was loving the packaging on this when I read the description and noticed the mark up – A full sized version of this is worth £110! This is a 5ml sample, making it worth an impressive £36.66! Not bad considering the box costs just £10! This is a luxury eye product, which promises to brighten, tighten, reduce fine lines and puffiness and hydrate the eye area.
Unfortunately, after 5 minutes of pumping, I still didn’t have any product to test. Eventually got some product after about 10 minutes of pumping the little bottle. The products smells like high end beauty products and baby wipes, but does a pretty good job of making my eye feel wide awake! I probably wouldn’t buy this in a hurry – £110 is just too much to spend on an eye cream. But if you’ve got that kind of money going spare, I recommend it!
Sleek Makeup Power Plump Lip Crayon
This cute crayon promises to plump up your lips with high pigment and a gentle tingling. I love the colour, but haven’t heard great things about the formulas of Sleek lip products!
Happy to say this is really pigmented and the colour is gorgeous! I can’t deny the gentle tingling (I put this on slightly chapped lips and it hurts!), cold tingling eventually felt a bit stingy! After five minutes, I snapped a picture to get some before and after shots:
So as you can see, there is a little bit of plumping! It certainly felt like it was plumping my lips, although it can get pretty painful (or maybe I’m just weak…). I’d use this for the colour alone, but for £5.50, this is a pretty good pulmping solution!
Himalaya (Since 1930) Purifying Neem Facewash
This cute little facial wash contains Neem, apparently hailed as a wonder herb. It’s anti bacterial properties make it apparently a great skincare option. But I can’t really use a foaming cleanser, as they make me break out! So I’m not sure if this will get used! Shame, because it looks so good!
Batiste Stylist Oomph My Locks XXL Volume Spray
I was pretty impressed to pull out a full sized bottle of this! If you ask any girl to name a dry shampoo, at least 80% of them will say Batiste. I love their dry shampoos, but this is a volume spray. I’m really excited to give my limp, fine hair a go with this!
Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo
This cute, pink bottle seems to promote that ‘Instant Glow’ I love to create! This highlighting fluid can be used alone, all over the body, or mixed into foundation. The formula of this is pretty gel-like, and it’s super pigmented with a really nice golden shimmer. I swatched it onto the back of my hand and now need to go and do my makeup to test it’s full potential!
So, here you have it – this month’s Glossybox. It’s a total win in my book, the only product I’m not enthused by is the charcoal mask (although I’m off to use it immediately…). If you’re considering getting Glossybox, this is the month to stop dithering and get on with it! An extra product is a rarity in the subscription box world!
