All right, I’ll be that person; January feels like it’s been going on forever. The heavy uni workload hasn’t helped. But despite the fact I’m swimming in deadlines and learning more than I’d ever wanted to about river dolphins, I’ve gotten through to the end of the month relatively unscathed.
In all honesty, I’m amazed I’ve put makeup on each day! And whilst I’ve not had much time to experiment, there have been a few products that have at least made it look like I’m not stressed trying to balance everything alongside blogging…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette
A little late to the party on this one; it’s been out for ages and other, hyped up palettes have since been released. I actually got this for Christmas, but the first one I was given came with a shattered mirror, and had obviously been bashed around a bit. My mother-in-law sent a few photos to ABH and they sent out a second one. So not only do I love this palette, I actually have 2!
The palette itself is beautiful, with lots of pink, berry tones and a selection of matte and shimmer shades. The eyeshadows are really pigmented and very blendable. I’ve been experimenting with a few looks and will hopefully get some up on the blog next month! This palette is perfect for a valentines day inspired look…
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paints and Glossy Lip Paints
I now have so many liquid lipsticks I don’t have space for any more! These were the latest additions to the collection, with four Lip Paints and four Glossy Lip Paints coming out from a set in the boxing day sales. With shades ranging from nudes, to siren reds, to deep, vampy reds, there’s a colour for all occasions. These also stay put for hours and fade away really naturally. The texture is non-drying and smudge proof. Overall, they’re some of the best liquid lipsticks I’ve tried.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
With the boxing day sales leading to me making a bit of a Tarte haul, there was no way I couldn’t include this cult classic. Bloggers the world over made me believe this was a miracle in a bottle and would be the only thing capable of hiding my dark circles. I’m going to write a whole post on this little beauty, so I won’t give too much away. But does it work? Yes, yes it does!
Glossier Priming Moisturizer
For all of my random buys this month that I definitely didn’t need, I was in need of a really good primer. This moisturizer from cult brand Glossier does the trick! Not only is it a perfect compliment to my skincare regime, but it’s also a primer that preps such a nice base under my makeup. I’ve got a post coming about Glossier, as sadly I haven’t been getting on all that well with some of the products. But some of them are amazing. So watch this space…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Kit
ABH Glow Kits are a bug hit for a reason, and this one is no different! Although much less sparkly than the Nicole Glow Kit, the colours in this are amazing, so pretty and metallic and give the perfect glow. Gumdrop in particular gives a slightly holographic pink shimmer. It’s currently my go-to highlighter palette, on the odd occasions I have time for highlighter…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
This has kind of turned into an ABH appreciation post… Oh well! I picked this little beauty up in the Sephora in Paris, along with the Fenty Beauty Foundation, and it’s now the only brow product I use. It gives the perfect, natural, “Your Brows But Better” look so swiftly and easily! For a more dramatic look, I pair it with the ABH Dipbrow Pomade. It’s a really versatile pencil and so easy to use to shape and define your brows, and fill in sparse spots.
Tarte Lights, Camera, LASHES Mascara
If it’s not obvious, I’ve really only been using 2 brands this month! I love the Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara, but with it’s spiraled brush, I find myself reaching for this Tarte mascara on those days I don’t have as much time. It defines lashes, separates them, volumizes, and lengthens. It’s also pretty easy to remove, something the Bare Minerals Mascara can’t boast! I had to throw out most of my mascaras recently for being out of date, and I’m glad I did, if only to get one of these instead!
So there you have it, my favourite products for the month of January. As I’m trying to stop spending (and just splurged on a gorgeous new blog theme and an espresso machine), my February Favourites probably won’t be as good! And with my lectures taking up a huge amount of my makeup time, I’m hoping to get into some more application type posts so you can see these products in action, especially with Valentines Day coming up!
Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
